Having Paan from Muchhad Paanwala video
Video Description
The video is about a very popular dessert/snack/mouth freshener in India called "Paan". Its been shot post midnight at the very famous "Muchhad Paan Wala" in Mumbai. The movie includes talk about Paan, about "Muchhad Paan Wala" and shows the recipe for something that we call "Masala Paan" in Mumbai. The song "Khaike" from the Bollywood film "DON" is synonimous with Paan. I've tried editing portions of the video to bits of the hugely popular number...(the Shah Rukh Khan version).The shop is located on WARDEN ROAD (Near Kemp's Corner) in MUMBAI, INDIA. It's easy to get there as the locality is famous...and "Muchhad" itself is a landmark. Ironically, the "Yellow Pages" office (the "Inquiry" guys, who are supposed to provide us with addresses) on the same road, advertise their own location as being next to "Muchhad Paan Wala"!

Oh Mumbai has some of the best street food in all of India, actually in the world! Of course Bangkok is also an amazing place to eat and eat on the street.

"maa ke haath ka khana" you'll only get where mom is, but "muchhad ke haath ka paan" you can get anywhere! all you need to do is place an order on their site- www.paan.com.

Thanks...there's a lot more to the History than what i could tell here...stuff like - Empress Noorjehan popularised paan eating for its use as a lipstick as "kattha" (an ingredient) made the lips red. More in the next vid on paan.

the song was the obvious choice. i only had to decide between the old and the new versions. thankfully, i managed to sync muchhad's movements with the song's rhythm (required crazy editing though!)

thanks! yes, paan does make a unique mouth freshner...imagine putting in your mouth ingredients that include leaves, chuna(lime), gooey chutneys, paste from a tree's bark and other strange stuff...not eating, but chewing for a good 5-10 mins and all the while, spitting out a red liquid!!!
