Video DescriptionThe margarita has been attributed to Tail o the Cock bartender John Durlesser, who was said to have created the drink as a tribute to his girlfriend in 1949.
More recent theories, however, say that we owe it to a woman named Margarita Sames, who came up with the idea for the drink at a Christmas party in 1948.
Either way, both stories name the Tail o the Cock as the first bar in America to serve the margarita, and the different legends behind it just make it even more fun to drink, right?
