Pancake Stall In Burma video

Video Description

Savory rice pancakes called "mohnt yay bah" - a traditional all-time favorite snack of Burma (Myanmar). The first time my niece went to Burma, she was tiny and what with the heat and the upheaval, she completely lost her appetite. But the smell of these delicate crepes tempted her and in the end it was the only thing she would eat!

This pancake looks like appam Kerala style. I love appam with cocount chutney or sweet cocount milk. Thanks.

When I was in India, I would never have a problem eating out. The street food looked and tasted so great, and I would never pay any attention to hygiene standards. Never had any health problems as well. Ever since I have come to the US, I get sick every time I go back - mostly stomach upset. It is amazing how people living in the east develop some sort of resistance to all the bacteria and viruses, and eat almost about anything anywhere without having to worry about health implications. For international travelers, I always recommend reputed restaurants where one owuldnt have to worry about hygiene standards.

In Myanmar we mainly ate in little family run restaurants or at the hotel in Rangoon. I loved one restaurant over the water at Inlay Lake that was spectacular however we haven't been to Myanmar for a few years now. Shanti/Mary-Anne
