Burmese Kachin Ethnic Restaurant video

Video Description

Ethnic Kachin traditional food served at U Ru Hka restaurant in Mandalay, Burma (Myanmar).

This is the only time I've ever been to a Kachin restaurant and I know next to nothing about Kachin food - my uncle took us to this place as it's one of his favourites.

They also serve this traditional Kachin liquor which is this horrid, mulchy, fermented purple sour mash concoction made out of glutinous rice.
Tastes gross to me - I suppose it's an acquired taste...

Yes - it was more of a thickening agent. I love the slightly smoky toasty flavour too!

Was the toasted rice ground in the soup? I love the flavour it gives to dishes. I have only had it or cooked it in salads.
