Peshawar is a large ancient city located in NW Pakistan near the Kyber Pass going into Afghanistan. For much of its history, it was one of the main trading centres on the ancient Silk Road and was a major crossroads for various cultures between the Indian subcontinent and Central Asia. With the Russian invasion of Afghanistan in 1979 and the influx of millions Afghan Refugees into Pakistan, Peshawar became the home for Afghan musicians and artists as well. The city has become the centre for Pashto music and cinema as well Dari music from neighbouring Afghanistan. Peshawar has become host to a thriving underground scene.This bread is often eaten with a local speciality Pushawar Mutton (goat) Kabobs. Most Western restaurants substitue the more popular leg of lamb cubes. It is often eaten with chutney.
