Valerie Ianello

www.valerieianello.com         My name is Valerie Ianello.  I have a passion for Motion Pictures on both the big and small screens.  I am interested in many different aspects of the business, but have been focusing my career on Post Production.  Over the last year, I worked as a second assistant editor on two documentary films: “Seasons in the Valley” at Chatsby Films which has been asked to be submitted to AIF and Sundance, and “Keep a Child Alive” at Cut + Run which focuses on Alicia Keys and her AIDS charity (original release date October 2007).  Currently, I am interning at Post Factory NY, working as a freelance AE for the company, as well as for Pola Rapaport, Filmmaker/Editor.  Also, I am the First Assistant Director on an independent film by Anthony Marinelli entitled "Eventually Yours," and the Editor for "A Gentle Walk" by Brandon Katcher. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Cumulative GPA of 3.7 from Syracuse University in May '06 with a BFA in Film-Art.  My education has provided me with a fundamental knowledge of filmmaking and film criticism.  My short film, entitled "VI Courses," a comedic documentary, was accepted into the DC Shorts Film Festival (Washington DC) and the Syracuse International Film and Video Festival’s New Filmmaker’s Showcase.  My previous short film, entitled “Buskers,” was showcased in NY and won the First Place Catalyst Prize in London, where I created it while studying video art for a semester.  My study abroad also includes participating in the program “Hollywood and the Roman Empire,” where I traveled with professor/actor Peter Weller through Italy, as well as studying under influential Czech filmmakers at the renowned film academy, FAMU, in Prague.  These experiences have all enhanced my love for motion pictures.
