Babies deserve the best of everything that can be offered. The first year of life is the most critical for a baby, particularly from a nutritional standpoint. During the initial and most crucial months of growth and development in a child’s life, nutrition and diet should be a major concern to parents. Choosing an infant feeding method, whether breast milk or baby formula, is ultimately the parent's decision. However, in making this decision, parents should rely on the advice of health professionals.

Although breast milk is the best source of nutrition for your baby, you shouldn't feel bad or guilty if you are unable or choose not to breastfeed. Baby formulas are specially made to meet babies' nutritional needs. Even some women who breastfeed may at one time or another use formula to supplement their breast milk.

However, with so many brands and names to choose from, the "mother and the father to be" seems confused which one is truly "good and safe" for parent's who chooses to resort to infant formula?

Friday April 25, 2:57 PM Rice price surge frustrates and puzzles Asians  MANILA (Reuters) - From the airconditioned supermarkets of Tokyo to the open-air stalls of Manila reactions across Asia to record leaps in the price of rice vary from fear and frustration to a nonplussed shrug of the shoulders. Fried, boiled or steamed, rice is synonymous with food in this region but with wide disparities in national wealth and paddy output, Asian consumers are differently affected by prices of Thai grain hitting $1,000 a tonne. In the Philippines, Indonesia and Bangladesh, three of the top four world rice importers with millions of poor between them, some people are having to scrimp on already meagre budgets and skip meals to ensure they can still feed their families a daily helping of the cereal. "What can I do? Rice prices soar, we have to follow them," said Rudin, a 28-year-old shopper in Indonesia's capital, Jakarta adding he was not in a position to pile up stocks because he had limited income. Experts say there are signs the dramatic international price situation may improve in the months ahead as more harvests hit markets and importers ease back on purchases.
Siopao or Baozi as what is called in China, is still a staple of Beijingers, dates back almost 1,800 years.  Baozi, is a steamed filled bun, is such a common food in China that most of us take it for granted and don't particularly look out for it when dining in restaurants.Yet in Beijing, the variety and quality of the food can satisfy even the fussiest gourmet.

Regarding Vikas 5 star and 3 star experiences, i too have a story to share! when i was a kid i used to buy firecrackers at our local store usually days before new year's eve (it's been a tradition that we've inherited during the chinese occupation). as you can see every boy my age back then dreams of having a pack of firecrackers to lit on the eve before new year and the ones that blast with a big bang are the "5 star" ones. when i was about to go to college, i had the chance to pass the entrance exam of a prestigious university in the main capital of our country which is manila. after, a year of studying there we were excited to go and spend christmas holiday to new year's day break back to our respective homes (my home is about 220 kilometers from manila). reaching home, ive seen my small cousins stacking up on firecrackers. to my surprise i saw this tiny firecracker with them and intriguingly asked the kids whats the name of this new piece, and they chorusly answered " 3 star" !

here's something i found on my classmate's notebook a long time ago...

Dont Quit

When things go wrong as they

sometimes will,

When the road you're trudging

seems all up hill,

When the funds are low

and the debts are high

And you want to smile,

but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,

Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with it's twist and turn,

As everyone of us sometimes learns,

And many a failure turns about

When he might have won

had he stuck it out;

Don't give up though the pace

seems slow ---

You may succeed

with another blow.

Success is a failure turned

inside out---

The silver tint of clouds

of doubt,

And you can never tell

how close you are,

It may be near when it seems so far;

So stick to the fight when

you're hardest hit---

It's when things seem worst

that you must not quit.
