Sarita Bhandarkar

I am Sarita Bhandarkar. I stay with my husband Raghuveer and son Ishaan in Denver, CO. My home town is Punjalkatte, near Mangalore in Karnataka. I was always interested in cooking. I used to watch all the cookery shows and notedown the recipes. But I never dared to prepare any. My mom, my elder sister and my mother in law are very good cooks. I used to help my mom while I was at home in cutting the vegetables, but I always bothered her about how much salt, spices etc I should add. After that I got a chance to stay with my elder sister for about 8 months, where I learnt to cook some more dishes. But never tried cooking all by myself. I got married to Raghuveer in Apr 2007 and came to California, after which I had to cook all by myself. There was no one whom I could ask. I never used pressure cooker before marriage because I was affraid to use them. Raghu taught me to use it.Smile In July 2007, we moved to Appleton and after coming here I got to know lots of tips and tricks about cooking. Even now I sometimes call my mom, sister and mother in law if I don't know how to prepare. Now, I can proudly say that I am a far better cook than I was initially. And still crave to learn lot more. Thanks to ifood.tv and vahrehvah.com (Vah chef Sanjay Thumma) which made this possible for me.
