In 1990 I started an environmental mail order, and it eventually included hemp clothing. When I learned about the nutritional powers of the amazing hemp seed, I knew I had found my calling. I joined the lobby to legalize hemp in Canada, and was one of the people who helped to legalize hemp in Canada in 1998. At that point, I saw the opportunity to bring together my personal passion for health food with a way to make a living by helping to improve people’s health, by making truly nutritious and fabulous food. On a personal note, I am blessed to have 2 beautiful children, now adults Zoey and Marc. Zoey studies and teaches Yoga, and is the creator of Fairey’s Tonic Kombucha, found in health food stores around Toronto. Marc is studying to be a chef. They are often with me at local shows. And then there’s my partner, Rob, without whom this company wouldn’t exist. I am grateful for Rob’s unfailing support and love. My dog and cat, Salty and Tiger roam around with me and keep me company. I take particular delight in Salty, a beautiful English Setter. He is a “raw dog”, and I make his food myself, including lots of hemp and other quality, organic ingredients. Late afternoons it’s often difficult to reach me, as salty and I are usually enjoying the park or the beach.
