Zesty Italian Peasant Bread Recipe
Ingredients
| 1 16-ounce Italian bread shell | ||
| 1 tablespoon olive oil or cooking oil | ||
| Garlic | 1 Clove (5gm) | |
| Pepper | 1/8 Teaspoon | |
| 1 medium tomato, peeled, seeded, and chopped | ||
| 1/3 cup crumbled Gorgonzola, blue, or feta cheese | ||
| 1 tablespoon snipped fresh rosemary, oregano, or basil, or 1 teaspoon dried rosemary, oregano, or basil, crushed | ||
Directions
1 Place bread shell on a lightly greased baking sheet. In a small mixing bowl stir together oil, garlic, and pepper; brush over bread shell. Sprinkle tomato, cheese, and snipped or crushed herb over bread shell. Bake in a 400° oven 10 to 15 minutes or until warm and cheese softens slightly. Cut into 12 wedges.
