Zabaglione Semifreddo Recipe
This is a delicious recipe for Zabaglione Semifreddo; an interesting fruit dessert to cool down the hot summer days! So rich with the goodness of strawberries and deliciously flavored with vanilla this fruit dessert is something anyone would love. Ingredients
12 egg yolks
1 cup Marsala wine
1 cup granulated sugar
1 pint heavy cream, whipped
Grated peel of 1 lemon
5 dozen strawberries for garnish
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Directions
Mix yolks with sugar.
Beat in lemon peel, vanilla and wine.
Cook over very low heat or over hot water in top of double boiler, beating constantly with wire whisk until mixture thickens to custardlike consistency.
Beat cream until stiff.
Fold whipped cream into yolk mixture and pour into large serving bowl.
Wrap well and place in the freezer overnight.
To serve, remove from freezer and top with strawberries.
NOTE TO COOK: Carry zabaglione in serving dish, well wrapped, to party.
Store in freezer.
Carry strawberries separately and serve in separate dish alongside the zabaglione.
