Young Marrows Au Gratin Recipe
Ingredients
| 3 or 4 small marrows, peeled and chopped | ||
| Salt | To Taste | |
| Pepper | 1 | |
| 65 g/2 1/2 oz butter | ||
| Cream | 3 Tablespoon | |
| Egg | 1 | |
| 50 g/2 oz cheese, grated | ||
Directions
Put the marrows in a saucepan with salt, pepper and a very little water.
Cook gently until the marrows are tender.
Drain if necessary and turn into a heated ovenproof serving dish.
Mix together 50 g/2 oz of the butter, the cream and egg and fold into the marrows.
Add a little of the cheese and salt and pepper.
Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top and dot with the rest of the butter.
Cook in a preheated hot oven (220 C/425 F, Gas Mark 7) for 5 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
