| Oil | 3 Tablespoon (Grind:) | |
| 1 small lump jaggery | ||
| 1/2 cup thick tamarind water | ||
| Turmeric | 1/4 Teaspoon (Grind:) | |
| 1/2 tsp. cummin seeds | ||
| Poppy seeds | 1 Tablespoon (Grind:) | |
| Sesame seeds | 1 Tablespoon (Grind:) | |
| Caraway seeds | 1 Teaspoon (Grind:) | |

Directions
Boil dal with 6 cups water till soft.
Drain off water and use dal.
Heat oil, fry baghar till it splutters.
Add masala and turmeric, fry well.
Add dal, water and bring to the boil, add in salt, tomatoes, jaggery and tamarind, simmer for 10 mins.
Serve with rice.
