Yankee Steak Recipe
Ingredients
2 pounds beef round steak, 1/2 inch thick
1/2 cup flour
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 medium onions, thinly sliced
1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
Directions
1. Cut meat into serving-size pieces. Combine flour, salt, and pepper; pound into steak.
2. Heat oil in a skillet. Brown meat slowly on both sides. Place in a 13 x 9-inch baking dish. Top with onion slices.
3. Combine tomato sauce and garlic powder. Pour over meat.
4. Bake, covered, at 350°F 1 hour, or until meat is tender.
