4 egg whites
 
2 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar
 
1/2 cup walnuts, ground
 
1 ounce candied cherries, chopped fine
 
1 ounce candied orange peel, chopped fine
 
1 ounce candied lemon peel, chopped fine
 
Candied cherries for garnishing

Directions

Beat the egg whites until stiff.
Stir in the confectioner's sugar, then continue beating until very stiff and shiny.
Fold in the walnuts, candied cherries, orange and lemon peel.
Drop by half-teaspoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet.
Decorate each top with a small piece of candied cherry.
Bake in a 275° oven for 20 minutes, or until set.
Remove from the sheet while hot.
