Ingredients
4 cups thinly sliced peeled pears (4 large) 1 L
4 cups thinly sliced peeled apples (4 large) 1L
1/2 cup chopped walnuts 125 mL
1/2 cup raisins 125 mL
1/4 cup packed brown sugar 50 mL
1/4 cup chopped preserved gingei 50 mL
1/2 tsp ground ginger 2 mL
1/2 cup orange juice 125 mL
TOPPING
3/4 cup all-purpose flour 175 mL
1/2 cup packed brown sugar 125 mL
1/2 cup cold butter 125 mL
Directions
In large bowl, stir together pears, apples, walnuts, raisins, sugar, preserved ginger and ground ginger.
Spoon into greased 8 cup (2 L) baking dish and smooth top.
Drizzle with orange juice.
Topping: In small bowl, blend flour with sugar; cut in butter until in coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle over fruit.
Bake in 400°F (200°C) oven for 45 to 55 minutes or until topping is crisp and fruit is tender.
