Wine Hamburgers Recipe

Ingredients

 
2 lb finely minced steak
 
1 cup soft white breadcrumbs
 
1 egg
 
1/4 cup Burgundy
 
1 onion, finely chopped
 
1 teaspoon salt
 
Freshly ground pepper
 
8 thick slices French bread, cut diagonally and buttered
 
Burgundy sauce:
 
2 oz butter or margarine
 
1 large onion, finely chopped
 
1/4 cup Burgundy

Directions

Combine minced steak, breadcrumbs, egg, Burgundy, onion and seasonings in a mixing bowl.
Mix together thoroughly and shape into 8 hamburgers, approximately 1 inch thick.
Brush with the sauce and barbecue over hot coals for approximately 8-10 minutes on each side or until cooked, brush occasionally with the sauce while cooking.
