Baked Wholemeal Scones Recipe
Ingredients
2 cups unsifted meal (wholemeal) or
1 cup unsifted meal and 1 cup flour
4 tspns. baking powder
pinch salt
2 tspns. ground ginger
1/4-cup sugar
about 3/4-cup milk
2 oz. butter
2 tblspns, shredded candied peel or
preserved ginger.
Directions
Mix the dry ingredients well together.
Rub in butter and add sugar and peel, or ginger.
Blend into a soft dough with the milk, which is added slowly.
Pat out the dough on a floured board and cut into shapes.
Brush over with milk.
Bake at 450° F for 10 minutes.
