Directions

1. Melt butter or margarine with molasses and sugar in small saucepan over low heat. Cool.
2. Combine baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, salt and cloves with whole-wheat flour in a large bowl. Stir in butter-molasses mixture. Add vinegar. Drop by teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart, onto greased cookie sheets.
3. Bake in moderate oven (350°) for 7 minutes, or until cookies are set; remove with spatula to wire racks to cool completely. Store in covered jar.
