Ingredients

 1 to 2 Pkgs. Yeast
 Water1/2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Milk or water1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), scalded
 Sugar3 Tablespoon
 Salt1 Tablespoon
 Shortening2 Tablespoon, melted
 Flour 7 Cup (16 tbs)

Directions

Put yeast into large bowl.
Add 1/2 cup water and stir.
Add 3 tbs.sugar, 1 tbs.salt and 2 tbs.shortening; then add remaining liquid which has been cooled.
Blend 2 to 3 cups of flour and remaining flour at intervals as dough becomes workable.
Add more flour if needed until dough is not sticky.
Put dough on board and knead for 10 to 15 minutes.
Let dough rest 20 minutes.
Then shape in a ball.
Place in bowl with oil to grease dough thoroughly.
Let rise 1 hour and then punch down.
Let rise 1/2 hour longer and shape into loaves or buns.
Let stand 20 minutes and bake in a 350 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes
