White Cake Supreme Recipe
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup shortening
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
5 egg whites
Directions
In large mixer bowl cream sugar, shortening, and vanilla till light, scraping bowl frequently.
Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
Add flour mixture to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating after each addition.
In small mixer bowl beat egg whites till stiff peaks form.
Gently fold into flour mixture.
Turn into 2 greased and lightly floured 9x1 1/2-inch round baking pans.
Bake at 375° till wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, 18 to 20 minutes.
Cool on wire racks for 10 minutes.
Remove from pans.
Cool thoroughly.
Fill and frost with desired' frosting.
