Wheat Chili Recipe
Ingredients
| Wheat berries | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Water | 3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Lean ground beef | 1 pound | |
| Onion | 1 Large, chopped | |
| Green bell pepper | 1 To taste, chopped | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Chili powder | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Ground red pepper | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Ground black pepper | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Tomato sauce | 1 Can (10oz) | |
| Whole tomatoes | 1 Can (10oz) | |
| Beef broth | 4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Kidney beans | 1 Can (10oz) |
Directions
In large saucepan, over medium heat, bring wheat and water to a boil.
Simmer wheat in water 1 hour, or until tender; adding more water if necessary.
Drain and rinse with cool water.
In large saucepan, over medium-high heat, cook beef and onion, 5 minutes, or until browned; drain in colander; and rinse with hot water.
Return beef to pan and stir in remaining ingredients.
Simmer, uncovered, 1 hour or until desired consistency is reached; stir occasionally.
