Ingredients

 3 quarts hot beer
 Powdered sugar1 pound
 1 freshly grated whole nutmeg
 Powdered ginger 3/4 Teaspoon
 Dry sherry1 Cup (16 tbs)
 4 or 5 thin slices seeded lemon
  slice6

Directions

Heat beer (do not boil) with sugar, nutmeg, ginger, sherry and lemon.
Bring almost to boiling point.
Remove from heat.
Taste for sweetening.
Pour into large heated bowl containing 6 slices of freshly made toast.
Serve as hot as possible in punch glasses.
Serves 16 to 18.
