Walnut Ginger Bread Recipe
Walnut Ginger Bread is a better mood elevator than a bar of chocolate! I will prepare this Walnut Ginger Bread as Main Dish for a get-together I am soon going to host. There is no bigger sin than reading this recipe of Walnut Ginger Bread and not trying it out.
Ingredients
1/4 cup raw honey
1/2 cup butter or unrefined safflower oil
2 or 3 eggs
1 cup unsulphured molasses
3 cups whole wheat flour
2 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons ginger
1 cup buttermilk or 1 cup fresh milk mixed with the juice of one lemon
1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped, or 1 cup toasted sunflower seeds
Directions
Beat honey and butter well.
Add the eggs and beat well.
Add the molasses and continue beating.
Sift the dry ingredients together and add them alternately with the milk.
Add nuts.
Pour in an oiled and floured 9x13 inch pan.
Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 325°.
Cool in pan for 10 minutes.
Turn out on a flat tray.
Cut in 3 x 3 inch squares.
Serve with lemon sauce or top with whipped cream and bananas or applesauce.
