Walnut Crumb Apple Pie Recipe
Ingredients
| Flour | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Firmly packed light brown sugar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Nutmeg | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Cinnamon | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| 1/4 cup acceptable margarine | ||
| 1/2 cup unsalted dry-roasted walnuts, chopped | ||
| 1 recipe Mrs. Park's Piecrust or 1 9-inch pie shell, unbaked | ||
| Baking soda | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Boiling water | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1/4 cup light molasses | ||
| Apples | 1 20 Ounce, drained | |
Directions
Preheat oven to 400° F.
In a small bowl, combine flour, sugar and spices.
Cut in margarine until mixture has a crumbly consistency.
Add nuts and mix well.
Turn half of mixture into unbaked pie shell.
Set aside.
In a large bowl, dissolve baking soda in boiling water.
Add molasses and apples.
Pour apple mixture on top of flour mixture in pie shell.
Cover with remaining flour mixture.
Place in oven on a cookie sheet and bake 40 minutes.
