Walnut And Mushroom Stuffing Recipe
Ingredients
3/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced, or 2 cans (4 oz. each) sliced mushrooms, drained
3/4 cup butter
3 quarts (1 1/2 loaves) soft bread cubes
3/4 cup chopped walnut meats
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons rubbed sage
1/2 teaspoon marjoram
1/2 to 1 cup chicken stock
Directions
Slowly cook onion and mushrooms in butter until lightly browned, pour over bread cubes and toss to blend.
Add nut meats, salt, pepper, sage, marjoram, and enough broth to moisten; mix lightly.
This amount of stuffing is ample for an 18 to 20 pound turkey.
If you use a smaller turkey, the extra dressing can bake in a moderate oven (350°) for 35 minutes.
