Waldorf Astoria Cake Recipe
Ingredients
| Sugar | 1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Vanilla | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Flour | 2 Cup (16 tbs), sifted | |
| Vinegar | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Crisco | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Red food coloring | 2 Ounce | |
| Cocoa | 2 Teaspoon (Leveled) | |
| Soda | 1 Teaspoon | |
| 2 unbeaten eggs | ||
| Buttermilk | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
Directions
Blend sugar, Crisco, eggs, vanilla and red food coloring, creaming mixture for 20 minutes.
Sift flour, salt and cocoa together.
Add to creamed mixture, alternating with buttermilk.
Add flour mixture in four portions, buttermilk in three portions, starting and ending with flour.
Mix vinegar and soda together.
Stir into creamed mixture.
Bake at 350° for 30 minutes in 2 waxed-papered 9-inch pans
