Ingredients

 
Urad dal flour-2 cups
 
Green ginger -1 teaspoon grated
 
Dash of asafoetida powder
 
Fennel-1 tablespoon
 
Salt-1/2 teaspoon
 
Green chili-1, chopped
 
Baking powder -1/2 teaspoon
 
Oil- for deep frying

Directions

GETTING READY
1)In a pan, heat oil to smoking point.

MAKING
2)In a bowl, add all the ingredients, except for oil, and make a thick paste adding water as needed.
3)Take a greased plastic sheet and drop a tablespoon of the batter on it. With wet fingers make round with a hole in the middle.
4)Make all the wadas in this manner and then, deep fry them until golden.

SERVING
5)Wadas can be served hot with sambhar.

TIPS
Soak the wadas in water and add to the beaten yoghurt, mixed with roasted and ground cumin seeds, salt and chilli powder and you have dahi wada!
