2 cups of water-ground cornmeal
 
1/2 cup flour
 
4 t baking powder
 
1/2 cup sugar
 
1 t salt
 
5 cups of milk
 
3 eggs
 
1/2 cup shortening

Directions

Sift flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt altogether in a large mixing bowl.
Let shortening and milk come to a rolling boil and pour over the dry mixture stirring constantly until batter thickens.
Put eggs in mixture, beat well about one minute.
Bake in a deep well-greased baking dish at 425 ° for about 30 minutes.Serve hot.
