4 tablespoons butter or margarine
 
1 small head green cabbage coarsely sliced
 
1 fully cooked smoked ham center slice, 1 1/2 inches thick
 
3 medium-sized red cooking apples, cored and cut into wedges
 
2 tablespoons maple or maple-flavor syrup

Directions

1. In 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat, in hot butter or margarine, cook cabbage, stirring quickly and frequently, until cabbage is tender-crisp, about 5 minutes. Spoon cabbage into 13" by 9" baking dish.
2. Preheat oven to 325°F. Place ham slice on top of cabbage; tuck apple wedges into cabbage around ham. Drizzle syrup over ham, cabbage, and apples.
3. Bake 50 minutes, until ham is heated through and apples are tender.
