Vermont Baked Apples Recipe
I hadn't made Vermont Baked Apples in a few years in spite of the fact that it was on my favorites list. And after I got back this Vermont Baked Apples, it's the dish that is cooked the largest number of times at home. Your family will love you for it!
Ingredients
6 large cooking apples
6 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 cup maple or maple-flavor syrup
1 cup heavy or whipping cream
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Wash and core apples. Starting from stem end, peel apples one third of the way down. Arrange apples, peeled end up, in 13" by 9" shallow baking dish. Place 1 tablespoon butter or margarine in cavity of each apple. Pour maple syrup over and around apples.
2. Bake apples 1 hour or until fork-tender, basting occasionally with syrup in baking dish. Serve apples hot. Or cover and refrigerate to serve cold later.
