Ingredients

 Venison2 Cup (16 tbs), finely chopped
 2 cups chopped peeled tart apples
 Suet1 Cup (16 tbs)
 1 pound each of raisins and currants
 Citron1/2 pound, chopped
 Mixed fruits1 Cup (16 tbs), candied
 1 tablespoon each of ground cinnamon and nutmeg
 Ground cloves1 Teaspoon
 Sugar2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Salt2 Teaspoon
 Liquid to cover (broth, cider vinegar, or sweet cider)

Directions

Mix ingredients thoroughly.
Bring to a boil; simmer for 15 minutes, stirring frequently.
Seal in scalded pint jars.
This will make about 7 pints and each pint will make 1 pie.
