Venetian Hero Recipe
Ingredients
| 1 1-pound loaf of Italian or French bread | ||
| Butter stick | 1 1/2 | |
| Tomato Paste | 3 Tablespoon | |
| Garlic | 3 Clove (5gm), minced | |
| Sage leaves | 1 Teaspoon, dried | |
| 1 7.25-ounce jar roasted bell peppers, drained and coarsely chopped | ||
| 2 4 1/4-ounce cans boneless, skinless sardines, drained | ||
| 4 hard-cooked eggs, cut into 1/2-inch slices | ||
| Pepper | 1 Teaspoon | |
Directions
1. Cut bread in half lengthwise and remove some of soft center from bottom half.
2. Use a fork or electric mixer to mix butter, tomato paste, garlic, and sage until well blended.
3. Spread butter mixture over cut sides of bread. Top with roasted peppers, sardines, and then eggs. Season generously with pepper. Replace top half of bread and press gently. To serve, cut into 3- to 4-inch diagonal slices.
