Ingredients
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons corn starch
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk
4 egg yolks, well beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla, sherry, rum or lemon extract
Directions
Combine sugar, corn starch and salt in 1-quart bowl.
Mix well.
Gradually add milk to dry ingredients, stirring until mixture is smooth.
Add egg yolks, beating until well combined.
Microwave 4 to 5 minutes on '8', or until mixture coats a metal spoon, stirring after 8 minutes.
Stir in vanilla or other flavoring and chill thoroughly.
Serve over cake or ice cream.
For ovens without solid state heat control, Microwave 3 to 4 minutes on HIGH.
