1 1/2 lbs ground veal
 
1 onion, chopped
 
1 egg, beaten
 
1/2 cup soft part of bread, hand torn
 
Salt and pepper
 
1 tbsp oil
 
Sauce
 
1/2 cup chili sauce
 
1 tbsp lemon juice
 
1/4 cup brown sugar
 
2 tbsp dry mustard
 
1 tsp soy sauce
 
19 oz canned peach slices, in their syrup
 
Cooked rice

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 °F (175 °C).
In a large bowl, mix first 5 ingredients.
Shape into meatballs.
Set aside.
In a skillet, heat oil.
Brown meatballs.
Transfer to an ovenproof covered casserole dish.
Set aside.
In a bowl, mix sauce ingredients, except peaches.
Pour over meatballs.
Cover.
Cook in oven 30-40 minutes.
Remove from oven.
Add peach slices in their syrup.
Continue cooking 15 minutes.
Spoon meatballs over a bed of rice.
