Vanilla Custard Pie Recipe
Ingredients
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sugar
3 cups milk, scalded, cooled
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 unbaked (9 inch) pie shell
Directions
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
Combine the eggs, salt and sugar in a large mixing bowl; beat until smooth.
Add the milk and vanilla gradually, beating constantly.
Pour into the pie shell and sprinkle with nutmeg.
Bake for 10 minutes.
Reduce oven heat to 325 degrees and bake for 30 to 40 minutes longer or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
