Vanilla Cream Filling Recipe

A dozen people gave this vanilla cream filling recipe of mine more than a 2 thumbs up. You can fill up any cake you want with this great vanilla cream filling. Start right away!

Ingredients

 
1/2 cup sugar
 
3 tablespoons all purpose flour
 
1/8 teaspoon salt
 
1 1/2 cups milk
 
2 eggs, beaten
 
1/4 cup chopped almonds, toasted
 
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

Combine sugar, flour, and salt in a heavy saucepan; gradually stir in milk.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until smooth and thickened.
Gradually stir about one-fourth of hot mixture into eggs; add to remaining hot mixture, stirring constantly.
Bring to a boil; cook, stirring constantly, 2 to 3 minutes or until thickened.
Remove from heat; stir in almonds and vanilla.
Cover and chill 1 to 2 hours.
