| Cherry Cake Mix- 1 package | ||

| Boiling water | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Toasted almonds | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), sliced | |
| Strawberry preserves | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Directions
GETTING READY
1) Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2) Lightly grease the inside of 2 9X9X2- inch baking pans and dust with flour.
MAKING
3) In a bowl, prepare cake batter using cake mix, eggs whites and water, as per the directions mentioned on the label.
4) Transfer the batter into the layer pans.
5) Bake in the oven for 30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
6) Cool in pan on wire racks for 10 minutes.
7) Turn out the, the cake and allow to cool completely, wrap 1 layer and set aside to use for another meal.
8) When ready to serve, cut the remaining cake square in half.
9) Put one half on a cutting board or ovenproof platter slightly larger than cake.
10) Cut the ice cream square horizontally and arrange pieces over the cake.
11) Trim the ice cream if needed, to fit.
12) Place the remaining half cake layer over the ice cream.
13) Put the plate in freezer until needed.
FINALIZING
14) Raise the temperature of the oven to 400°F.
15) Make the frosting mix with boiling water, following label directions.
16) Take out about 1/2 cup of frosting if desired to make the heart trim.
17) Smear the remainder over side and top of filled cake.
18) Over the top of the saved frosting, make the outline of heart, building up side about 1/4 inch.
19) Stick almonds into frosting along sides of cake.
20) Bake in the oven for 3 minutes, until frosting is golden in color.
SERVING
21) Spoon the preserves into heart on top.
22) Cut cake into thick slices with a sharp knife and serve.
