Upma Recipe
Ingredients
Ghee -1 tablespoon
Dash of asafoetida powder
Mustard seeds -1/2 teaspoon
Semolina -8 ounces, roasted
Potatoes-4 medium, boiled, peeled and diced
Salt-1 teaspoon
Green chilies-2, chopped
Mixed dal powder-1 tablespoon
Warm water -11/4 cups
Lemon juice-1 teaspoon
Green coriander-3 tablespoons, chopped
Directions
MAKING
1)In a pan, heat ghee and add asafoetida and mustard. Let it splatter.
2)Then, add next six ingredients and cook on low heat for about 15 minutes, stirring constantly.
3)Add the lemon juice and mix well.
4)When moisture is almost evaporated, turn off heat.
SERVING
5)Sprinkle coriander and serve with hot sambhar.
TIPS
You can add vegetables, like peas and carrot, if desired
