Turkish Tacos Recipe
Ingredients
| Lean ground lamb | 1 1/2 Pound | |
| Onion | 1 Small, minced | |
| Egg yolks | 3 | |
| 1/8 teaspoon saffron soaked in 1 teaspoon water | ||
| Cinnamon | 1/8 Teaspoon | |
| Cumin | 1/8 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Ground pepper | 1 To taste | |
| 2 green peppers, cut into 12 1 inch squares | ||
| 6 pieces of Pita bread | ||
Directions
Combine the lamb, minced onion, egg yolks, saffron, cinnamon, cumin, salt and pepper in a bowl.
Mix thoroughly.
Form the meat mixture into 6 "sausages," 5 to 6 inches long.
Skewer a green pepper square, a lamb "sausage" and another green pepper square.
Press the peppers into the meat to be sure the lamb mixture is securely molded to the skewer.
Continue until all the "sausages" are carefully skewered.
To serve, place a skewered "sausage," with peppers, on each piece of Pita bread.
Spread with Yogurt Sauce, garnish with sliced onion and tomato, fold up the sides and dig in.
