Turkey Surprise Soup Recipe
The turkey surprise soup is a vegetable and turkey soup made with added lentils. Filling and nutritious, the turkey surprise soup is flavored with mustars and has mushrooms in it too. Served as a side with buttered bread rolls, it is really delicious.
Ingredients
1 turkey carcass
2 qts. water
1 cup lentils, dried
2 onions, sliced
1/2 cup carrots, thinly sliced
1/2 cup celery, thinly sliced
4 oz. mushrooms, thinly sliced to taste
Seasoning without salt
Gifford's Alternatives: Add:
2 tsp. chicken bouillon granules
2 tsp. onion powder
2 tsp. Butter BudsĀ® Sprinkles
1/2 tsp. ground mustard
1/2 tsp. Gifford's Basic SpiceĀ® to taste
Pepper
Directions
1. Put as much of the turkey carcass as you can in a deep soup pot and fill with water to within a few inches of the top. Let cook until meat falls easily off the bones, about 1 hour.
2. Remove carcass and pick all of the meat off it.
3. Reserve about 2 quarts of the turkey broth. Add the meat and remaining ingredients. Cook until vegetables and lentils are tender.
