Turkey-Salsa Burgers Recipe
Ingredients
| 1 ripe avocado, pitted and chopped | ||
| Salsa | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs), prepared | |
| 1/4 cup regular or nonfat sour cream | ||
| 1 small hot chili pepper, seeded and minced | ||
| 1 pound ground turkey or ground chicken breast | ||
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Ground pepper | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Vegetable oil | ||
| 4 slices red onion, sliced 1/4-inch thick | ||
| 4 hamburger buns, split and toasted on griddle, if desired | ||
Directions
To make the salsa, in small bowl, combine the avocado, 1/4 cup prepared salsa, sour cream, and chili pepper; mix thoroughly, cover, and refrigerate until ready to serve.
To make the burgers, in a medium bowl, combine the ground turkey or chicken breast with the drained salsa, salt, and pepper.
Divide multure and shape into four burgers, each 1/2- to - inch thick.
Preheat griddle on the appropriate setting for 5 minutes; lightly grease with vegetable oil.
Cook burgers and onion slices 9 to 12 minutes, or until, the meat is cooked through but still juicy and the onions are tender and brown.
Turn after half the cooking time.
If desired, place buns on griddle during last 3 minutes of burger cooking time to toast.
To serve, top burgers with salsa and place in toasted buns.
