Ingredients

 
1 tuna steak 1-1 1/4 inches thick
 
3 tablespoons soy sauce
 
2-3 cloves garlic, finely chopped or pressed
 
Juice of 1 lime
 
1/2 teaspoon sugar
 
1 tablespoon olive oil
 
3-4 teaspoons coarsely ground black pepper

Directions

1. Place tuna steak in a shallow glass or ceramic bowl and cover with soy sauce, garlic, lime juice, and sugar.
2. Cover, then refrigerate for no more than 2 hours or let sit at room temperature for one hour, turning occasionally.
3. Heat a large nonstick skillet over high heat and add oil.
4. Lightly coat both sides of the tuna with pepper. When oil is hot, place tuna in skillet and cook for about 3 minutes on each side, or until tuna is of desired doneness.
