Tres Vite Apple Tarts Recipe
Ingredients
| 2 large Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cored, thinly sliced | ||
| Lemon juice | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Vanilla extract | 1 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Egg | 1 | |
| Milk | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Sugar | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Ground cinnamon | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| 1 frozen puff pastry sheet, thawed | ||
| Apricot preserves | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Sliced almonds | ||
| Whipped cream | ||
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Mix apples, lemon juice and 1 teaspoon vanilla in medium bowl.
Beat egg and milk together in small bowl.
Mix sugar and cinnamon in another small bowl.
Roll out pastry on floured surface to 10 inch square.
Cut into four 5 inch squares.
Brush squares with egg mixture.
Place on ungreased baking sheet.
Drain apples.
Overlap apples atop pastry, leaving 1/4 inch border around edges.
Sprinkle apples and pastry edges with cinnamon mixture.
Bake until crusts are brown, about 30 minutes.
Place on rack.
Combine preserves and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla in small saucepan.
Stir over low heat until melted and smooth.
Brush glaze over apples.
Sprinkle with almonds if desired.
Serve warm or at room temperature with whipped cream, if desired.
