Ingredients
| Pigeon peas | 1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Onion | 1 Large, chopped | |
| Tomatoes | 2 Large, chopped | |
| Salt | To Taste | |
| Ghee | 2 Tablespoon | |
| 2 green chillies seeded | ||
| Coriander leaves | 1 Tablespoon (Grind together:) | |
| Ginger | 1 Inch (Grind together:) | |
| Garlic | 6 Clove (5gm) (Grind together:) | |
| Turmeric powder | 1/2 Teaspoon (Grind together:) | |
| Chilli powder | 2 Teaspoon (Grind together:) | |
| 1 tsp cumin seeds or 1/2 tsp powder | ||
| 1 tbsp coriander seeds or 1 tsp powder | ||
| Cinnamon | 1/2 Inch (Grind together:) | |
| Cloves | 4 (Grind together:) | |
| 2 white cardamoms | ||
| Black peppercorns | 6 To taste (Grind together:) | |
| Poppy seeds | 1 Teaspoon (Grind together:) | |
Directions
Wash dal and cover with 3-4 cups water.
Add salt and bring to boil.
Lower heat and simmer till done.
Puree, and if too thick add a little water.
Heat ghee in a small frying pan and fry onions till brown.
Add ground spices and saute for 2-4 minutes.
Add tomatoes and mix well.
Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
Add to dal and mix well.
Simmer for a further 2-3 minutes and serve with rotlis or rice.
