Ingredients

 Pigeon peas1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Onion1 Large, chopped
 Tomatoes2 Large, chopped
 Salt To Taste
 Ghee2 Tablespoon
 2 green chillies seeded
 Coriander leaves1 Tablespoon (Grind together:)
 Ginger1 Inch (Grind together:)
 Garlic6 Clove (5gm) (Grind together:)
 Turmeric powder1/2 Teaspoon (Grind together:)
 Chilli powder2 Teaspoon (Grind together:)
 1 tsp cumin seeds or 1/2 tsp powder
 1 tbsp coriander seeds or 1 tsp powder
 Cinnamon1/2 Inch (Grind together:)
 Cloves4 (Grind together:)
 2 white cardamoms
 Black peppercorns6 To taste (Grind together:)
 Poppy seeds1 Teaspoon (Grind together:)

Directions

Wash dal and cover with 3-4 cups water.
Add salt and bring to boil.
Lower heat and simmer till done.
Puree, and if too thick add a little water.
Heat ghee in a small frying pan and fry onions till brown.
Add ground spices and saute for 2-4 minutes.
Add tomatoes and mix well.
Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
Add to dal and mix well.
Simmer for a further 2-3 minutes and serve with rotlis or rice.
