Toovar Nl Dar ( Pigeon Peas ) Recipe

| 300 gms. toovar dal | ||

| Roasted sesame seeds | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Cumin seeds | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Poppy seeds | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| 6 Kashmiri chillies | ||
| Turmeric powder | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Amchur powder | 1 Teaspoon | |
| 3 tablespoons ghee salt | ||
Directions
1. Chop the onions finely and fry in a heavy bottomed vessel in three tablespoons ghee. When golden brown add the ground masala, turmeric masala and fry for three minutes, then add tomatoes, green chillies and coriander.
2. Peel and chop the potatoes into fine cubes. Wash the dal twice. Then add both items to the onion mixture along with four teacups of water and cook over a medium flame till tender and soft. You can place the dal in a pressure cooker if you like - it will become soft and tender faster than if cooked in a vessel.
3. Add the amchur powder, stir, allow to heat for 5 minutes and serve.
