Tomato Jellied Ring Recipe
this tomato jellied salad can be served as an accompaniment to meals or as a sweet and savory snack. Molded with macaroni along with onions cooked in tomato juice, this jellied salad is made savory with prepared horseradish.
Ingredients
4 cups tomato juice
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon finely chopped basil
1 onion, peeled and finely chopped
2 envelopes gelatine
1/4 cup cold water
2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 lb elbow macaroni, cooked (or noodles)

Directions
Put the tomato juice, seasoning, basil and onion into a skillet, heat to boiling point, and simmer for 10 minutes.
Then strain.
Soak the gelatine in the cold water for 5 minutes, add to the hot tomato juice, and stir until dissolved.
Add horseradish, sugar and lemon juice, adjust the seasoning to taste, and set aside to chill until the mixture begins to thicken.
Stir in the cooked macaroni, and pour into a lightly oiled 9 inch ring mold.
Chill until set.
Unmold on to shredded lettuce, and fill the center as desired.
