Tomato Biscuits Recipe

Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
Dash of ground ginger
1/4 cup shortening
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1 cup tomato juice
Directions
Combine dry ingredients, stir well.
Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.
Stir in cheese, add juice, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened.
Turn dough out onto floured surface, knead lightly 3 or 4 times.
Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness, cut with a 1 1/2-inch biscuit cutter.
Place the biscuits on a greased baking sheet and bake at 400° for 10 to 12 minutes or until biscuits are lightly browned.
