 Tomatoes2 Medium, sliced
 Cucumber1 Medium, thinly sliced
 Onion1/2 Medium, separated into rings
 Salad oil1/2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Vinegar1/4 Cup (16 tbs)
 Salt1 Teaspoon
 Dried basil1 Teaspoon, crushed
 Dried tarragon1 Teaspoon, crushed
 Pepper1/8 Teaspoon
 Lettuce

Directions

Advance preparation: Layer tomatoes, cucumber, and onion in shallow glass dish.
Combine oil, vinegar, salt, basil, tarragon, and pepper; beat well with rotary or electric beater.
Pour mixture over vegetables.
Cover; refrigerate for 5 to 24 hours.
Before serving: Drain vegetables, reserving marinade.
Arrange marinated vegetables in lettuce-lined bowl.
Pass reserved marinade.
