Toffee Crisps Recipe

Lightly grease a 13-by-9- by-2-inch pan.
Make Cookie Crust: In large bowl, with wooden spoon, or portable electric mixer at medium speed, beat butter, sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla until smooth.
Add flour and oats; stir until well combined.
Press mixture evenly in bottom of prepared pan.
Bake 15 minutes, or until golden.
Meanwhile, make Topping: Melt chocolate and butter over hot, not boiling, water.
Spread over warm cookie crust; sprinkle with nuts.
With sharp knife, cut into bars while still warm.
Let cool completely in pan before removing.
For teatime, cut each bar in half, to make 48 small bars.
